vs. Inverness CT. Sunday 1 February, 9:00 A.M.

Wow. Simply wow.

Well, if you watched yesterday’s 11-10 shootout win over a very game Dundee United team, you’re probably just getting over the mild heart attack you suffered.

With Celtic’s place in the CIS cup final against The Greater Manchester Police’s Wanted Top 11, the focus returns to the league where Celtic face off against Inverness Caledonian Thistle this Sunday at 9:00 A.M. Travel to Inverness has always been a bit of an issue for Celtic as they seem not to play their best up on the North Sea, but with back-to-back wins this may be a portent of a return to form.

For those of you who remember, last Saturday Celtic beat Hibernian 3-1 off of a double from Scott McDonald and a goal from Stephen McManus (who was injured in the match). Celtic could have and possibly should have been up 5-0 within the first ten minutes but the victory was well deserved. Inverness will be entering the game off of a 3-2 loss to Hearts. With their 12th place position getting 17 points from 23 games, Terry Butcher and Maurice Malpas take over as manager and assistant manager, respectively. Celtic remain in first place with 54 points from 23 matches.

The huns will be playing Saturday against a very, very angry Dundee United team, so Celtic will know where they stand (or fall) before our match on Sunday. Let’s hope for the best.

After this weekend Celtic will be facing off against the oldest club in Scotland (Queen’s Park) on the 7th and then scum F.C. on the 15th.

I hope to see everyone there this Sunday!

vs. Dundee United. Wednesday 28 January, 2:45 P.M.

And welcome to CIS semi-final madness!

Celtic are taking on Dundee United in the CIS semi-final one day after the huns square off against Falkirk. Celtic are coming off of a return to form(-ish) 3-1 victory over Hibernian this previous weekend while Dundee United outlasted St. Mirren 3-2.

Of course Celtic faced off against Dundee United last in a 2-2 draw on the 3rd of this month. This occurred during our less-than-exemplary run of form, so all can hope that the Bhoys will get past this and play more like the first 10 minutes of the Hibs match.

The big news this week is the closing of the transfer window and what that means to Celtic and Insolvency F.C.

While Insolvency F.C. have been quiet (hopefully meaning all ‘worthwhile’ players will be sold), Celtic have been linked with everyone from Willo Flood to, well, everyone else with a pulse.

The biggest news is Newcastle’s formal offer for our captain Stephen McManus. While people may differ on his performance this year (come on folks, argue it out!), a $4 million pound offer might be hard to turn down if a left back is thrown in. And it doesn’t break our bank to pay said left back his wages.

Yes, this is a midweek match, but I’d love to see everyone there! Well, everyone who can come who would not be fired if they did.

vs. Hibernian. Saturday 24 January, 10:00 A.M.

Celtic continue to try to shake their woeful recent form against Hibs this Saturday at 10:00 A.M. The recent less-than-stellar series of games began with a 2-0 loss at Easter Road back in December, so Celtic are hoping to balance the books this time around. Celtic are coming off of a 4-2 loss to Aberdeen while Hibs are visiting Celtic Park a little happier after a 2-0 win over St. Mirren last weekend.

Celtic are still in first place with 51 points from 22 matches. Hibs are holding on to 6th with 30 points from the same 22 matches. Celtic are now 2 points ahead of the forces of darkness and hope to build on this lead with a little help from an already fired up Aberdeen side who face the huns this weekend.

I hope to see everyone on a much more temperate Saturday!

vs Aberdeen. Sunday 21 January, 9:00 A.M.

Well, I hope everyone has stayed warm and not frozen solid in the past few days. In fact, it is more frozen than the huns assets right now (ba dum dum).

Celtic return to SPL action this weekend with a Sunday match against the Dons. As Celtic travel to Aberdeen they find themselves still leading the SPL with 51 points from 21 games while Aberdeen sits in 4th with 33 points from the same 21 games.

Last week in the Homecoming/Diddy cup match Celtic were able to get past Dundee 2-1 while Aberdeen beat Kilmarnock 2-1 in SPL action. Last week also saw the return of Aiden McGeady, Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Marc Crosas to the starting lineup. Will they remain there this week? Only Ghord knows.

Most of the (Celtic related) news this week has revolved around who might sign/be on loan for Celtic. The latest is a one week trial for Sacha Kljestan. He’s 23, a midfielder and I am sure that Walt will fill us in on what he might bring to the table.

Most of the news this week, though, is the seeming collapse of the huns. Following the “We Deserve Better” campaign, Smith’s response and the attempted sale of all first team assets it looks like we could get a late Christmas present. And that would be the huns in administration. Walt can also fill us in on what administration does to a club (sorry, cheap shot).

  • Swallow, Swallow is in full uproar. I love it.

Hope to see everyone there on Sunday. Keep warm!

    vs Dundee. Saturday 10 January, 10:00 A.M.

And now for our FA Cup match at home against Dundee. As you know, the transfer window has been open for 9 days now and while Celtic have been quiet so far, the huns are busy trying to offload players to put off administration or lower the amount of first team players available to them. Believe what you wish. I am sure they are as pleased as punch that Alan Gow failed his medical at Wolves this morning.

Last weekend Celtic drew (ahem) with Dundee United wasting two goals from Georgios Samaras to bring their league lead down to five points. Dundee won 1-0 over Queen of the South in Division One and they currently reside in 5th place in Division One. This will also reunite us with an old friend: Rab Douglas. Remember he of the buttery fingers? Yep.

This weekend may see the prodigal winger return to the first team. Or not. Who knows?

I hope to see everyone there this Saturday!

vs. Dundee United. Saturday 3 January, 10:00 A.M.

And welcome to the New Year, everyone. Hope that the year was rung in in an appropriate manner. And that you’re sober by now.

Saturday the Celts face off against Dundee United in a match to see if Celtic can retain their (at least) 7 point lead in the league. Celtic are leading the league with 50 points from 20 games. Celtic are, of course, coming off of a 1-0 victory over the huns last weekend. Dundee United are sitting 3rd in the table with 34 points from 20 games. They are coming off of a 1-0 victory over Falkirk.

I hope to see everyone there on Saturday!
