vs. ICT. Saturday 29 November 10:00 A.M.

So, after a week in which nothing happened, nothing at all, Celtic return to the SPL to face Inverness Caley Thistle.

ICT currently sit in 8th position with 17 points from 15 matches. They are coming off of a 2-1 win over Kilmarnock last Saturday.

Celtic are coming off of something terrible, but before that were victorious over St. Mirren in a 3-1 clash this past Saturday. Celtic are sitting top of the table with 40 points from 15 matches.

With Celtic’s focus shifted domestically, it should be interesting to see what surprises Celtic has in store for their domestic competition.

I wish that everyone has a happy Thanksgiving and I hope to see you there on Saturday. If you’re away with family, good for you. We will anticipate seeing you soon.

A hearty congratulations to the Columbus Crew on their 3-1 victory over RBNY yesterday awarding the MLS Cup to their nascent hardware cabinet!

vs. Aalborg. Tuesday 25 November, 2:45 P.M.

And here it is. The game that determines if Celtic play football after Christmas this year.

While the hopes of Champions League knockout round year three are laid by the wayside, the winner of this match will parachute into the UEFA (last year to say that) cup.

Celtic has been on a wicked 11 match unbeaten run in the SPL. Aalborg has played some exceedingly entertaining CL football (6-3 loss? Wow!), but their domestic form has cost Bruce Rioch his job and now they are managed by Allan Kuhn. They currently reside in 7th place in the SAS League with a 4-5-6 record.

So, yes, another midweek match, but this is for all the cookies, guys and girls. I hope to see everyone there!

vs St Mirren. Saturday 22 November, 7:30 A.M.

You know, what else is better than waking up on a freezing cold and grey morning and coming in to Fado’s for an early match? Nothing, that’s what!

Celtic return to the pitch against St. Mirren, who currently reside in 11th place with 12 points from 14 matches. Celtic are still holding their heads high at the top of the table with 37 points from 14 matches.

St. Mirren are coming off of a 2-1 defeat to scum F.C. this past Saturday while Celtic are back home after a 2-1 victory (if you want to call it that. It was a pretty crappy match) over bottom of the table Hamilton.

Hope to see some or all of you there!

vs. Hamilton, Sunday 16 November, 9:00 A.M.

Well, gang, after playing Kilmarnock for seemingly the fortieth time this season, Celtic return to the pitch to play bottom of the table Hamilton.

Celtic are coming off of a(nother) 3-0 win over Kilmarnock.  The game was spotlighted by Sheridan’s two goals and a sublime strike from the early returning Nakamura to finish off the scoring.  Celtic are currently on 34 points from 13 games.

Hamilton played Hearts to a 1-0 loss on the 12th as well.  They are bottom of the table with 10 points from 13 games.

I hope to see you all there!

vs. Kilmarnock, Wednesday 12 November 2:45 P.M.

After a 2-0 win this weekend over Motherwell, the fixture congestion continues with a midweek match against Kilmarnock.

Kilmarnock went down 4-0 to the huns on Sunday and currently reside in 6th place with 16 points from 12 matches while Celtic continues their run at the top of the table with 31 points from the same 12 matches.

I’ll be in attendance this Wednesday and hope to see you there!

Happy Birthday Celtic!

From the official site:

happy birthday to celtic football club

Newsroom Staff
THIS was the day when it all started. Exactly 121 years ago today, on November 6, 1887, a meeting was held in St Mary’s Hall in East Rose Street, Glasgow, where those in attendance took up the wishes of Brother Walfrid and formally constituted Celtic Football and Athletic Club.

The need for a top Irish club in Glasgow was first mooted in February 1887 when Hibernian came through from Edinburgh and won the Scottish Cup by beating Dumbarton 2-1 in the final.

The victorious Hibs players were feted at the same St Mary’s venue where Hibernian secretary John McFadden urged the Glasgow Irish to form their own team.

By September the wheels were in motion in the triumvirate of the Parishes of St Mary’s, St Andrew’s and St Alphonsus, with St Mary’s taking the bull by the horns thanks to the input of representatives such as John H McLaughlin, John Glass, James McKay and Hugh Darroch.

A week after the November 6 meeting, the ground was leased on Dalmarnock Street (Springfield Road) on November 13 and the first game was played at Celtic Park when Hibernian met Cowlairs in a 0-0 draw watched by a crowd of 5,000 on May 8, 1888.

On May 28, 1888 the first goal was scored there by Neil McCallum as Celtic played their first ever game and beat Rangers 5-2.

On August 21, 1888, the club joined the Glasgow and Scottish Football Associations but of all the above dates, there is no doubt that November 6, 1887 is when Celtic Football Club became something tangible.

vs. Motherwell, 10:00 A.M. Saturday, 8 November

Well, gang, I hope we enjoyed the majority of the game yesterday versus the Red Devils of Manchester. A really, really sublime strike from Skippy and some luck, like a nice off-the-line-crotch-stop by Maloney and some really decent defending by our wingbacks made yesterday’s draw, well, somewhat acceptable.

Saturday brings the Motherwell match at 10:00 A.M. Of course the Manchester United game starts at 7:45, so when that ends we will probably have the place to ourselves as they seem to turn into pumpkins at the last whistle.

Motherwell are currently 4th with 16 points from 11 games. Celtic are where they belong, at the top of the league with 28 points from 11 games. This past Saturday Motherwell won 1-0 against Hamilton while Celtic were triumphant with a 2-0 win over Hearts.

I have found no updates on injured players making possible returns to the pitch for this weekend, so here are our wounded:

McGeady (dinged a foot on Tuesday)
Vennegoor of Hesselink
Samaras
Crosas
Loovens

Let’s hope we keep a clean injury sheet for Saturday. Celtic are running more than a little thin.
