vs. Ross County. Saturday, 10 April. 7:15 A.M.

Celtic return to Cup action tomorrow against a plucky Ross County side in the Cup Semi-final at Hampden at 7:15 A.M.

Ross County’s team are populated by no less than four former Celtic youth players and are sitting fourth in the 1st division.

Celtic are now 2-0 under the management of Neil Lennon and his number two, Johan Mjällby.  The injury plagued (ahem) side will not welcome any new returns at this time with the possible exception of Artur Boruc who has been on bereavement leave due to the passing of his father.

The match tomorrow is early but it is a fine chance for us to see Celtic advance to the final of the Active Nation Scottish Cup!  Hope to see everyone there.

vs. Morton. Tuesday, 19 January 2:45 P.M.

The Scottish Cup waits for Celtic tomorrow as they travel to Cappielow Park to face off against Morton.  Morton, who currently reside in 8th place in Division One have lost matches to the big freeze recently and will come to the match without former Celt Paul McGowan, who is suspended.

Celtic who are coming off of a 1-1 draw with 12th place Falkirk (sigh) can now have the ‘injury-hit’ tag placed on them with Ki out for a month with an ankle injury, Danny Fox out with a groin injury, Stephen McManus out with a calf injury and our long term walking wounded of Scott McDonald, Shaun Maloney and Scott Brown still missing out.  It is reported that Glenn Loovens will be returning to action after some tummy trouble.

As it being January two reports have surfaced in the past 24 hours.  The first is Lee Naylor to Ipswich Town to join Roy Keane (which doesn’t make the best of sense as Danny Fox is hurt) and Philippe Senderos leaving Arsenal to join Celtic on loan.  For those not knowledgeable about Senderos he is a central defender (YAY!) who plays internationally for Switzerland.  If he does join Celtic (and that announcement should come today if it is coming) he would be the second Swiss defender to join Celtic in recent history.  Let us hope he does better than the first.

The game will NOT be broadcast but you may be able to find online options for the game.  Let us hope the Hoops find a better run of play tomorrow!

vs. Hapoel Tel-Aviv. Thursday 15 September, 1:00 P.M.

Celtic return to action after an uninspiring (or frustrating) weekend of action and a home draw with Dundee United 1-1 with a visit to Israel to play Hapoel Tel-Aviv in a Europa League match Thursday at 1:00 P.M.

Before I go too much further I want to clarify that according to Setanta’s site the game will be shown on Setanta 2 in Canada only (this as of 1:00 P.M. Tuesday). The NAFCSC has mailed me saying that the match WILL be shown in the U.S. on Setanta 2. So, all other things being equal the match SHOULD be shown at Fado tomorrow.

What I know about Hapoel Tel-Aviv: Not a lot. They play in the Israeli Premier League, they play at Bloomfield Stadium that seats around 15,000, after 3 matches they sit 6th in their league, current Jambo Laryea Kingston played a couple of seasons for them. . . .and that’s about it.

Auntie Beeb says that Aiden McGeady will be back in action (obviously) and that ol’ Banjo Ass, er, I mean Scott McDonald will be playing up front in a solo striker role. Grain of salt the size of Gibraltar with that info, please.

So, tomorrow I hope that some people will be at Fado to represent Celtic. I will, sadly, not be in attendance. If the match is shown could some kind soul collect the cover? Thank you in advance.

So with the first steps of the group stages on Celtic’s doorstep, which side will show? The team that wins games running away or the team that sits and struggles. Argue amongst yourselves on what the result will be.

vs. Dinamo Moscow. Champions League 3rd Qualifing Round. Wednesday 29 July, 2:45 P.M.

Welcome back, people!

Celtic face off against Dinamo Moscow tomorrow at 2:45 P.M. This game will not be broadcast on ANY outlet outside of Channel 67. So if you are not a Channel 67 member, justin.tv might be the only outlet.

Dimano Moscow, for those of you who don’t know, are the same club “run” by Felix Dzerzhinsky the cute little scallywag who ran the Cheka (Soviet secret police force) back in the good old days of the purges. Oddly enough the club did quite well during that period of time. Also the same club who lost to the huns 3-2 in the Cup Winners Cup.

Celtic are coming off of a successful pre-season winning two cups and letting their B team beat Tottenham. Injuries are still dogging some Celtic players as Wilson (shock), Misun, McManus and Brown all still look to be off the books for the visit from Dinamo Moscow.

So, the season begins without everyone getting together but we will all be of one voice when it kicks off for real tomorrow.

And from our friends at Sports Pro Magazine:

According to reports, Rangers, the champions of the Scottish Premier League, are expected to sell more players rather than look to expand their squad - despite the fact that the club has not signed a single player this summer.

The report comes shortly after the SPL voted to sign a dramatically reduced broadcast deal with ESPN and Sky, following the collapse of Setanta Sports - a move opposed by the two Glasgow giants, Rangers and Celtic. That decision has added to the sense at Ibrox that this summer will be a low-spending one - a situation that many predicted with the release of the club’s latest accounts.

‘The club’s last set of accounts were atrocious, with half-year turnover to December 31 a paltry £20.1 million - a decline of £13 million on the previous year - and a post-tax loss of £4 million,’ reports The Times newspaper. ‘For context, Celtic’s equivalent income was a staggering 125 per cent higher than that of Rangers for the same period.’

‘There is no danger of Rangers being in any financial meltdown, yet the club appears poorly, with frugality now the watchword,’ adds the newspaper.
